Office: 24,000 total square feet, two stories / Warehouse: 116,000 square feet
Description:
Center (Atlantic) [FDCCLANT] was charged with the construction of a new consolidated warehouse facility located at the Curtis Bay Yard. The new facility (a two story office building of 24,000 square feet and a 116,000 square foot warehouse building) would be capable of handling high rack storage and modern inventory retrieval and identification.
The project required demolition of facilities along with the relocation of the different facility users. To keep disruptions to a minimum, a three-phased construction approach was developed. Phase I was the construction of the new office building. Phase II was the demolition of half of the old warehouse and new construction in that area of the new warehouse and relocation of the laboratory and administration center to the new office building. Phase III demolished the balance of the old warehouse and completed the construction of the new warehouse. The project was completed on schedule.
