About Us
BlueScope Construction, Butler Buildings and the GSA Contract
Butler Manufacturing began in 1901 manufacturing steel watering tanks for livestock. We began making steel products that didn't leak, and still do today. We are known for our weathertight warranty on our roof systems.
In 2004, BlueScope Steel, a multi-billion dollar global steel producer, acquired Butler Manufacturing and helped enhance the growth of Butler by adding new U.S. plants. Capital expenditures for more new plants and process improvements continue today.
BlueScope Construction, the construction subsidiary of BlueScope Buildings North America, is the formal contracting entity for Butler Buildings on the GSA Contract. Formerly known as BUCON, Inc. (d.b.a. Butler Construction,) the primary goal of the company was to gain Butler business outside the normal marketplace achieved by Butler's nationwide Builder network. In 2009, BUCON changed its name to BlueScope Construction and added concrete services to its self-perfom capabilities. BlueScope Construction offers Butler products on the GSA Contract through the trade name Butler-GSA.
